Syrah hosts Niagara Escarpment Resource Network luncheon
Syrah Restaurant is perched on the edge of a unique and diverse geographical formation...The Niagara Escarpment.
The escarpment spans nearly 1000 miles from the state of New York; through Ontario, Canada; across the south east tip of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and across eastern Wisconsin. Not only does the escarpment lend itself to the beautiful views from our dining room at Syrah, it has many diverse and unique biospheres with over 240 rare or endangered species.
The Niagara Escarpment is also home to wine growing regions in New York, Canada and Wisconsin. In March of this year, the Wisconsin Ledge was officially recognized was an American Viticultural Area (AVA). What does that mean for the wine drinker? Let's just say it's similar to saying a wine is from Napa Valley. Except maybe a little more fruit forward.
To celebrate both the beauty of the Escarpment and the recent Wisconsin Ledge AVA destination, Syrah Restaurant and the Niagara Escarpment Resource Network hosted a Dining on the Ledge luncheon on Saturday, August 18th. The menu was created using food and wines that were grown, produced or harvested within a 40 mile radius of Syrah. The unique menu was a showcase of all the resources available throughout the Niagara Escarpment area of Wisconsin.
