Our Story
With a passion for outstanding wines and unique food, we introduced Syrah Restaurant & Wine Bar to Green Bay in August 2011. Our singular goal is to provide fun, fresh and seasonal food to be paired with great wines in a relaxed, casual atmosphere.
Located atop the Niagara Escarpment on the east side of Green Bay, Syrah provides unparalleled panoramic views of preserved nature and the bay of Green Bay. Syrah is just minutes from downtown Green Bay and a short drive north from the University of Wisconsin - Green Bay campus. This makes Syrah your perfect choice for pre or post show dining at the Meyer Theater or Weidner Center for the Performing Arts.

"Good wine is a necessity of life for me." ~ Thomas Jefferson
Some might say I was destined to spend my life in pursuit of great food and even better wine. When my parents picked my name, I'm not sure they were looking at the origins of Dennis. But as I grew older, it occurred to me that there may be something behind "just a name". Dionysus (the Greco-Roman origin of Dennis) was the Thracian god of grape harvest, winemaking and wine. He represented the social benefits of wine as well as the intoxicating properties.
I could bore you with a long biography on my work background and how I got to be where I am today. It would include a list of various jobs, exotic locations (if you think New Jersey is exotic) and influential people. But instead I'll cut to the chase...
There are a few people that have been important mentors and helped mold me into the person I've become today. I was inspired by their patience, wisdom and guidance. The first was an energetic Food and Beverage manager at a golf club that gave me an opportunity to learn about wine. Faye was a fanatic about great wines and had me try new products whenever possible. That was truly the start of my love for wine! The second was a very successful business owner that gave me the chance to oversee my own golf club. Garth had the confidence to send me half way across the country to revive a troubled property. It was a great learning experience to oversee an operation that included construction, renovation and marketing. But there is one line that he would repeat regularly that has stuck with me over the years...."He can't take a percentage to the bank". As long as you're moving product at a profit, no matter how small it may be, you're winning.
But in the end, it was my father that was my biggest mentor. There aren't enough words to describe everything that I learned about life (and business) from him. Let's just say that I'm the person I am today because of what I learned from him.
Lastly, I need to thank my mom and wife Lisa for their support and encouragement. Love you!!
